In the blink of kitties eyes (or a few for that matter), 15 months have passed and we have not written anything!
So many things have been going on in our mommy's life so please forgive her as we depend on her to type in the absence of fingers on our beautiful claws.
How has 2014 been for you? Mommy went through a major roller coaster ride and we think she has come out of the ride and is being herself once more.
Meanwhile, let us leave some pictures that we took over the last one year. We hope to continue writing more frequently now that Mommy is feeling happy again.
Happy belated new year 2015 all our furry friends!

Little Carlie (Kitten with twisted hind legs)
Hello our kitty friends! Belated Christmas wishes to all our Christian friends out there!
We know, we know, it has been a while, and yes, BUSY is our excuse once again (aren't we all?). Our mommy has been busy with this and that and recently, it was a little kitten!
About 6 weeks ago, mommy brought home a kitten and she had twisted legs! She commando-crawled everywhere and had sores on her legs. She got really messy after her poo/pee business as she couldn't lift up her behind. We were all 'ewwwwwsss' and refused to go near her as she was so smelly! Our mommy didn't seem to be able to smell her (maybe because humans has inferior smell-sense compared to us felines!)
Mommy said she could not leave the kitten on the street as she would not be able to fend for herself if any dogs or humans (God forbid!) attacks her.
This little kitten is the only surviving kitten of a stray cat who was dumped in Brickfields (Kuala Lumpur). A friend of mommy feeds the kitten's mommy daily but could not take her in as she has so many cats of her own to care for as well, including a paralysed cat. Anyway, long story cut short, one fine day when she could, mommy brought this little kitten home.
Since then, mommy was busy researching and contacting experts and friends. Vet says, not possible for surgery. Mommy read on the internet in cases like these, most times, Vets would recommend PTS (horror!). God send mommy an angel, an animal physiotherapist, but she was away on vacation. Thank goodness for whatsapp, mommy and this angel communicated. She learnt how to 'massage' the kitten and we got to admit, mommy was very creative. She even used warm bath sessions to get her to paddle and use her legs. She plays with the kitten tickling her belly to get her to cycle-kick hence getting her muscle to work. She even experimented bandaging but after the 2nd bandage which was too tight, she got too scared to bandage and left the feet (paws) as they were. She created little obstacles to get the little kitten to use different parts of her legs and body (and muscles).
After 6 weeks, kitten has a name. Mommy said kitten told her she wanted to be called CARLIE!
She could also walk normally 90% of the time. She runs like a rabbit, with 2 hind legs moving at the same time! Carlie can walk! Carlie can run! Carlie can climb! Carlie can jump! Oh, we forgot, Carlie can BITE!
Mommy will be getting her vaccinated soon and she thinks Carlie will be ready for a new home in about 2 weeks time. We sincerely hope Carlie can find a loving home, indoors, with another kitten friend to play with. She is very playful, determined and affectionate. If you love Carlie, like we do, email our mommy (joyelia@hotmail.com) and she will get back to you real quick. Our new year resolution : To find Carlie a home!
Note from Mommy :
My friend sent me this link : http://www.pandecats.com/x/caring-for-a-kitten-born-with-a-twisted-leg.shtml and it was here that I referred to as my 'bible' to care for little Carlie, as well as lots of whatsapp messages to my Vet friends and Animal Physiotherapist friend. Normal science will tell you there is no cure. But i didn't want to lose hope nor give up. I know her hind legs were alive. They hurt when I pinched. Hence I prayed that what I did could restore the usage of her muscles and get her body to heal naturally. My Animal Physiotherapist friend suspected (from the pictures only) that her condition was not due to congenital but rather contracted tendons in the legs most likely due to the positioning in the womb. She advised me on how to massage and extend / contract her legs to exercise her muscle. If you are keen to know more about this, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to introduce you to my friend and what i did.
Do not give up if medical science says there is no hope. There is always hope. In my mind, i knew i had nothing to lose and I was scared albeit brave to try this for the first time. This experience has opened my eyes to endless possibilities! So if you meet a kitten (or puppy) with twisted legs, think of Carlie.
God bless!

OUR PROFILE
I had the privilege of growing up with cats all my life, I understand how to handle cats. Some friends call me the "Cat Whisperer"

UPDATES ON BROKEBACK by Brokeback
I have to admit today's visit is much better and less stressful. The good thing about Germans is that they are very punctual. Good thing we were 30minutes early for our appointment. We were greeted by two rabbit, one if it looks like Jo. Errr we forgot to take picture as we kept staring at the beautiful layout of the reception and swimming pool. The session started with normal accupuncture diagnosis starting with historical interview followed by pin woman looking at my tongue and feeling my pulse. My tongue was smallish she said and a bit pale. My pulse was very weak. Then she went very technical about Qi flow and river and stones fire and firepot snd stuff. She took some pins and pricked me. I complained. But I was not as vicious as she was so nice. After awhile i relaxed sat down and listened to the explanation. After the pins were removed I got the yummiest treats. U can only buy them from USA. Anyone going to USA real soon? As part of the holistic healing process I am Brokeback no more.... I AM THOR!!!! |

HEAL BROKEBACK
Hi Everyone!
My name is Brokeback. I was rescued by some kind people in Ipoh, who then treated me and put me into the Ipoh SPCA cattery. I had an accident. I don't recall what hit me. The Vet said I was in bad shape as my back was broken and I was paralysed half way down my body. The Vet wanted to put me to sleep (gasp!). But I still wanted to live. I am not ready to die! The other Volunteers said to give me a chance as I still could eat ( I particularly like Royal Canin Kitten 36 ... yums, oh, and fish too!). Phew!
However, as all cattery, I do not get enough attention and my foster mommy decided to take me home for palliative care until I am better and ready for a new home. The reason for her decision was that I went into seizures at the cattery with no one around and it is truly a scary experience for me too.
So here I am in Kuala Lumpur in this half-way home, until I am well again. She has brought me for a full check up and that cost RM493, almost half of the pool of money collected from the Volunteers. I still need to see an animal accupuncture and depending on the frequency, in probably 4 visits, our funds will be gone. But I'm not worried. I am praying that I shall be healed before the money runs out. I do not want to make things difficult for my foster mommy.
To follow my progress, do join our event page to get the latest updates.

For ADOPTION : Goldie and Mydin
Hi we are boys that were abandoned to a Shelter called Ipoh SPCA. We only knew our real moms briefly...and we still miss her. Though we were strangers, we are now the BEST of pals. We have been "neutered", vaccinated and dewormed says the lady who is currently our temporary mommy. We hope to find a furrever home, preferably where we can be together. The lady said we are about 4 months old in human age and we know she adores us, but she can't take us in anymore as she already has a large 'fur'mily and would like to help more kids like us who once had a home and not anymore. That way, more of us can have warm beds and food everyday! We don't ask much, our needs are minimal.
If you are keen for us to grace your home, we promise not to be too naughty ... we think naughty is allowed but naughty-nice :). We know how to use our litter properly and not mess too much. We LOVE our food, we eat anything you give us, dry, wet and raw even.
If you think we are worthy of your home, do send a message to this lady and she will get in touch with you.
Purrs,
Goldie and Mydin
P/s Dear God, All we want for Christmas is a family. We promise to be good. Amen!
UPDATE: 8th December 2012 we have found our furrever family! Thanks all for your prayers!
