PETKNODE CASE : Where is the Justice?

I am truly disappointed with the judgment. I wonder can we appeal to a higher court?

Hot from the Press:

PETALING JAYA:Animal lovers shed tears and a few shout profanities at the two owners of Petknode who were let off with RM200 fine for each of the 30 charges of neglecting pets left in their care last Hari Raya holidays.

They had previously pleaded guilty to the offence and were sentenced this morning. The duo paid a total fine of RM6000.
Angry pet owners expressed their shock and anger that the duo, Shahrul Azuwan Adanan, from Batang Kali, and Yushairi Khairuddin, from Port Dickson,were let off with only a fine.
Magistrate K.B. Elena Hong Tze Lan said she was bound by the provisions in the Animal Act to allow the duo to pay a fine over a jail term.
Affected pet owners indicated outside the courtroom that they were looking at taking civil action against Petknode.

PETALING JAYA: Two owners of animal care centre Petnode, who pleaded guilty to 30 counts of animal neglect last year, have been fined RM200 for each charge.
Magistrate Elena Hong Tze Lan said she could not sentence them to prison time as she was bound by Section 44(2) of the Animal Act, which states that offenders must be given a chance to pay a fine before being sentenced to prison time.
Shahrul Azuwan Adanan and Yushairi Khairuddin, both 29, had been charged under Section 44 (1)(d) of the Animal Act 1953.
Many pet owners and animal lovers, who had gathered at the court, were disappointed with the sentence, with several in tears and yelling at the two accused as they left the court.

Saturday Shucks! Mommy and Daddy are escaping!

Good Saturday Kitties!

We are preparing kitty strike! Mommy and Daddy have planned a 4 days escape to visit their own mommy and daddy at a place they call SARAWAK. We told them we won't miss them.  Hmph!

We did feel strange to have mommy's friend come in everyday this week. I think they had conned her to take care of us during their escape.  No worries, in 4 days time, we will get our revenge.

They'd better come back with lots of treats and catnip, else we shall forbid them the privilege of sleeping with us. <evil laugh!>

Therefore, there shall be a break in postings till my mommy comes back, and we will make her pay!

My brother, Hope was getting really high on the envelope that was used to store catnip. He stuck his head into the envelope to sniff the remaining stinky goodness!  He's the crazypants in the house.

We've managed to pester mommy enough and she relented. She shoved the pile of work on her table and said she'd spend 20 minutes, that's all she has, to write what we wanna share.

We joined a Fun Cat Show competition in Gopeng yesterday (Sunday - 3rd June 2012), organised by Kelab Kucing Malaysia (Malaysia Cat Club).

We were very nervous about the show as it is our very first! Just look at our faces!

Yasmin complaint about being the centre of attention throughout the show!

Kat was like a piece of rock, not moving!

Pedro was another piece of rock!

Mommy's attempt of being creative (heh!)

We were poked, looked at, admired at, commented upon. There were some very bad children who taunted Yasmin and she fought back (and once mommy caught the hand of the man who wanted to smack her cage as she seemed fierce - poor Yasmin!). Mommy saved the situation by grabbing his hand and gave the man a good lecture. 

The results were announced at the very end of the day. We were so tired by then.  Guess who won?????

The results ........ TADAA!!!

 

Yasmin won the MOST VOCAL CAT in the show. She was very noisy and didn't stop complaining till we went home!  These are her ribbon and prizes. Great huh!

Pedro won the hearts of one of the Sponsors for the Show - "Henry Cats and Friends" ... he won the Sponsor's Choice award and these are his goodies!  We have no idea how to eat those but perhaps we could play with it.  Any suggestions?

Kat was so envious and she wanted to see all our prizes as she didn't win anything. She was upset but Mommy made her feel better and she slept with her cuddled by her armpit all night.

This was what we all got! Food samples for our participation. 2 small boxes each. Mom gave 1 box to Ipoh SPCA to treat the cats and another box to a good friend of hers who rescues lots of kitties, like us :-)


It was a looonnngggg and tiring day for us. We knocked out and slept from evening till late morning. (Mommy said Kat was snoring too .. hehehe)

It was a good experience for us. Did you ever join any cat show?
